About Khopra Ridge Trek

Khopra Ridge Trek is one of the best and newly opened trekking in the Annapurna region. During the Khopra Ridge Trekking, you get to witness a panoramic view of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and the Annapurna massif from the astonishing Pokhara valley is included in this trip with pictorial Gurung villages. The views from Khopra Ridge are extravagant, which takes you close to the peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri with exclusive views of the deepest gorge in the world, which is 7000 m deep. Likewise, the opportunity to visit the holy lake of Khair high up near the base of Annapurna will add divine experience in the journey.

You board a bus from Kathmandu and enjoy a 7-hours scenic ride to Pokhara, the beautiful city of lakes. There will be some amazing places that can be photographed on the way. You will have a lunch stop along the way, where you are provided with a delicious buffet lunch. A variety of colorful villages, the diverse culture, the divine forests, and the stunning Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges are wonderfully experienced during Khopra Ridge Trek.

You will arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport, where you will meet with our team members and drive. They will escort you to the hotel and brief you about the day program. Later, in the evening, you will stroll on the bustling streets of Thamel, and end your day with delicious welcome dinner organized by the company.

Today, you will visit a few tourist sites. You will be guided by a professional tour guide who will describe to you the places. After a good tour, you come back to the hotel and prepare for the trek. You will check all the gears and do the final packing with your trekking guide.

Today, you take a long drive to Nayapul (1,050m) begin trekking, as the trail ascends passes through forests to Ghandruk, a bustling village of the Gurung community. Ghandruk is also home to many Gurkha soldiers. It is a well-known destination for trekkers.

You first descend along the trail passing through rich rhododendron forests and splendidly cascading sparkling mountain streams. After continuously climbing for 3 hours, you reach Tadapani. Tadapani offers superb mountain views of the overpowering peaks of Annapurna South.

Trekking through a lush rainforest, you come to a small clearing. You might stop here for lunch depending on the time. After a stop here, your walk continues to a slow climb for an hour through rhododendron and pine forest. From here, your route diverts east with a short climb to a ridge through the short rhododendron bushes. The trail then descends and passes by a ridge. Further, a gradual climb of fewer than two hours brings you to Dobato.

After breakfast, you hike down through the clear ground and fine-looking forest to reach the pastures of Chistibung. The trail ascends gradually through a forest before reaching Upper Chistibung, which is a temporary herder’s settlement.

Today, the trail gradually climbed above the tree line through alpine meadows and pastures to reach Khopra. On approaching the Khopra Ridge, you see the tip of Annapurna South. You go for a brief hike down Khopra Ridge to a viewpoint overlooking the Kali Gandaki river far below in this deep valley. From Khopra, you also witness views of the stunning mountain panorama including Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Annapurna South.

You begin the day early and go on a hike to Khayer Base Camp. Further, you will also explore Kalibaraha Lake from where you get to see excellent views of Annapurna South and Bhara Shikhar. You will also explore the village and get to interact with the locals.

After a healthy breakfast, you hike through beautiful lively Magar villages, and the community cheese factory. You visit the factory to learn about the cheese-making process and enjoy a cheese tasting evening with local honey after a long trek.

From Khopra Ridge, you descend off the hillock and hike downhill on a steep trail. Along the route, you get more views of Mount Dhaulagiri with the towering peak providing a glorious backdrop to the terraced lush, green fields, and traditional houses in the villages scattered close by.

From Swanta village, you trek further along steep trails. You then climb through the rhododendron forest to Deurali (3,100m) and reach a hamlet of cultivated fields. The trial further continuous for 3 hours, and finally, you will find yourselves in Ghorepani.

Trekking along the banks of the Modi Khola, the trail passes through Birethanti (1,015m) a large village with several shops and teahouses. From here, the trail continues through the village and follows the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. Further, you ascend to Hille and move towards Tikhedhunga.

From Jhinu hot springs, you walk and reach Nayapul. Then it’s an hour's drive, which will take you back to serene Pokhara. On reaching Pokhara the same day, you refresh at your hotel and then do a guided tour of Barahi Temple and Boating in Fewa Lake.

You fly to Kathmandu in the morning. After landing at the airport, you will be dropped off at our hotel. You can spend the day taking the much-needed rest or catch up on some last-minute shopping. Either way, you mark the end of our successful trip with a farewell dinner hosted by Dream Peak Adventure, where you can share your experiences of the trek before flying back home the next day.

    Good to Know

    Khopra Ridge Trek difficulty

    Khopra Ridge Trek is quite easy to moderate trek. As you will not gain significant elevation during the trek, the chances of the high altitude sickness is very low. Still, you have to walk daily for 5 to 6 hours. The trail also includes steep and rocky ascend at some parts, which can be a little tough. Overall Khopra Ridge Trek 15 Days is a perfect trek for new trekkers. You did not need previous trekking to go on this trekking, but good health and physical fitness are required.

    Best time to go on Khopra Ridge Trek

    Nepal has five seasons Spring, Summer, Monsoon, Autumn, and Winter. among all these seasons, spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November) is the best time to go on Khopra Ridge Trek. These two seasons have the most stable weather, clear bright days, and moderate climate. These months are the most preferred time to go on Khopra Ridge Trekking. Other months like monsoon/summer (June to September) make the trail slippery and landslide-prone due to heavy rainfall, whereas winter (December to February) brings harsh cold and snowfall.

    Accommodation & Food during Khopra Ridge Trek

    You will stay overnight in a lodge, which is run by locals during the Khopra Ridge Trek. The rooms are generally small with a few pieces of furniture and two beds. As there are limited means of accommodation on the trail, getting a single room is not fixed and will be quite expensive. The washroom usually is communal.

    Khopra Ridge Trekking trail offers quite limited food options than other trails in the Annapurna region. You still can get dal bhat, curries, veggies, mash potato, noodles, momo, pasta, chapati, meat, eggs, bread, etc. As the elevation will increase the menu will get limited and expensive.
